I Spent [Time] [Doing X]

Challenge Title Format

Make the creator's commitment the headline, then let viewers wonder what that commitment produced.

Copy the title formula

Effort + time boundary + concrete activity

I Spent [specific time period] [doing a difficult or unusual thing]

How to fill the placeholders

Write the most specific version the footage can support. Remove any detail that exists only to make the title sound bigger.

[specific time period]

Use the exact duration that defines the story. The number should signal real effort, not inflate a short or loosely documented process.

[doing a difficult or unusual thing]

Name the activity in concrete terms a viewer can picture. Include the unusual condition only when it changes what happened on screen.

When this Format works

Use it when the video genuinely documents a sustained challenge, investigation, build, or unusual experience. The time span should make the effort feel costly or surprising.

Why it creates interest

A precise time boundary signals sacrifice and a complete story. Viewers can anticipate a beginning, mounting difficulty, and a payoff without the title giving that payoff away.

When not to use it

Skip this formula when the time span is incidental, most of the process happened off camera, or the video is mainly a tutorial rather than a commitment story.

Weak and strong adaptations

The stronger draft is not a performance claim. It is simply more concrete, supportable, and aligned with the story.

Weak

I Spent Some Time Trying Something Hard

Neither blank creates a picture. The viewer cannot judge the scale of the commitment or the nature of the challenge.

Stronger

I Spent 30 Days Learning to Draw Faces

The duration is fixed, the skill is specific, and the video has a natural before-and-after arc without promising a result the title cannot prove.

Pair it with the thumbnail

Let the title carry the duration and activity. Use the thumbnail for the strongest visible consequence: an exhausted moment, the finished result, or a clear before-and-after. Do not repeat the day count as the largest thumbnail text.
